Designer Spotlight: Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano is a fashion mastermind and one of my favorite designers for a long time now. He is someone everyone interested in fashion should know of. I have been following his career from when he first started. Siriano studied fashion in London under Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen and then he moved to New York City and had an internship with Marc Jacobs. He has been designing clothes since he was 13, but his big break came when he was selected to compete for Project Runway season four. Project Runway is a television show that has aspiring fashion designers compete against each other making clothes in many challenges. The final three make a collection and show it at New York Fashion Week. In 2008, Siriano became the youngest designer to win Project Runway. Now he has his own successful label. His label took off fast and was sold in huge department stores and made millions of dollars. Siriano has a long list of celebrities he dresses for red carpets and big appearances like Sarah Jessica Parker, Heidi Klum, Victoria Beckham, etc.

I would describe Siriano’s design style as old hollywood glam with a twist. Everything he makes is of the highest taste and class. His use of colors and details is impeccable. He know has his own wedding collection. He used to design wedding gowns before his Project Runway win, so now he has returned to his roots. Not only do I think his designs are beautiful, but I think he is an amazing person. He has always been outspoken about his beliefs about equality and he also has a great sense of humor. If you have watched Project Runway you would see what a character he is, he seems like a great person to work with and be around.
